This volume is affectionately dedicated to the memory of Walter H. Boeckler, who served with great distinction as a research biologist for The Dow Chemical Company in Midland , Michigan .
Walter was born on July 28, 1931 and died December 4, 2002 . Walter and his wife Norma were always devoted to the cause of the Lutheran faith as confessed in the Book of Concord. Providentially they were able to help start Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Midland .
When our independent Lutheran conference met in Midland , the families went out to dine together, a tradition we have maintained from year to year. Everyone expected to pay his own bill, which was another custom. When we prepared to pay for our food, the waitress said that was impossible. The bill was paid. My favorite memory of Walter is seeing him grinning as he relished the chance to fund our dinner. The occasion has served as a reminder of the Gospel message that everything has already been paid through the redemption of Christ.
Norma Boeckler has suffered many delays in the completion of this book, offering her artistic talent and learning website design to advance the message of Creation. This book would be almost lifeless without her inspiring and inspired artistic work.
